Committee
Reports
Trail Committee:
Most of the trails are groomed and in good shape. The
alternate side has been groomed once. Volunteers are needed to
put in some
posts on the S curve. Several people volunteered and will coordinate
with
Bill Waddell. Volunteers are also needed to repair gates for future
races.
Kurt Jokela, Bill Waddell, and Jo Wood will coordinate. We will
not be able
to use Fort Rich trails for the Chugiak 50 so a different route
will need to
be planned.
Business
Person's Race Committee: Harold Capps will begin work
on planning this race.
Clubhouse
Committee: We have received a temporary occupancy permit
through August. This meeting is our first meeting and official

The major
change in the distances was in the Open Race. Jo proposed that
the races be changed from 10-10-12-12 miles to 8-10-10-12 miles,
based on
comments from several mushers who have not had the opportunity
to train for
10 miles yet. After discussion, Denise seconded the motion and
the club
passed the change.
Kurt Jokela
announced that the gangline demonstration originally scheduled
for tonight would be moved to next week's meeting.
New
Business
Kurt Jokela
announced that the Alaska Canine Weight Pulling Schedule is now
available.
Jerry Raychel
announced that he knows someone seeking mushers to give sled
rides for a company party. They will pay. See Jerry for details.
The Van Zyle's
have generously donated six pieces of art for the clubhouse.
Thank you to Jon and Jona for this wonderful gift.
Trophies for
the Cheechako Races were distributed to mushers and skijorers.
See the web site at www.chugiakdogmushers.com for the results
of the races.
Dixie Waddell
headed up a Chinese auction, auctioning off several gift
cards, books, Van Zyle prints, a clock, dog nail clippers, and
a fleece
jacket, among other items. The club made $161 from the auction.
