General:
Our incorporation status has expired, according
to Jim Cantor. Ron will investigate how we go about reinstating
this.
Clint Gahm, has finished installing the posts.
There may have been some overrun in the costs of supplies. A thank
you note will be sent to Clint for all of his hard work on this
project. Jeanne will call Hilltop Recycling to see if they will
take the bent posts for recycling.
Ron and Dixie developed a message to include on
the stained glass piece commissioned in memory of Myron Gavin.
Ron asked to schedule a board meeting at 6:15pm
on October 5th, before the general meeting and education program.
The 2006 Parks & Recreation Grant requests
have been released. The deadline for submittal is September 30th.
We will request funds this year for trail signage (to be matched
with the remainder of the gift from Myron Gavin), filling in and
grading bad trails, and general trail maintenance. Ed would like
to put in some holes near the culvert for posts there as the large
rocks don’t seem to be stopping joy riders on the trails.
Clubhouse:
Ron said that the electrical hookup to the clubhouse
is done. The pad for the trash containment area has not been laid
yet. If this is not done within a week or so, Ron will talk to
Parks & Rec about a temporary occupancy permit so we can hold
meetings there. We would like to avoid postponing any more general
meetings and education programs.
Race Poster:
Ellie was not in attendance to provide an update
but 12 businesses have purchased ad space on the poster so far.
Education Committee:
Jeanne relayed the final results of the latest
Education meeting. The schedule will be sent to the race poster
committee and the web site.
Political Action:
Val said that she continues to keep up with the
Title 21 planning as much as possible, considering the vast size
of the latest revisions. Andy, an active participant in the process
in our area, has expressed concerns about the railroading of Eagle
River. The Muni has cancelled the last two public planning meetings.
New Business:
Val brought up the issue of getting more members
involved in club activities and interested in board positions.
Many executive board members have been in the positions for several
years and are in need of a break when the next election comes
around.
Don mentioned an opportunity for recreational
mushers to learn about backcountry training, including snow cave
building and other camping and survival skills. We will send out
a notice to determine interest and Don’s friend may set
a date for such a training.
Next Meeting:
The next general meeting date has not been determined
yet. It depends on the status of the trash containment area at
the clubhouse. We will keep members posted.
