KP packed north side trails outbound trail to Clunie Lake, turned around at "Cinnamon" (the new lollipop at the 8 mile turn) and came backward on the outbound 6 trail. The 4- and 6-mile inbound trails are not packed. Plan is to pack the alternate (south) side tomorrow.

KR structured the staging area, 2-mile, 3-mile, and outbound trail to Junior loop. Should be okay for delicate sprint dog feet! Beach Lake Road is sanded.
The 4-mile trail is in good shape after yesterday's earthquake. Wet/icy areas in the swampy area after the inlet loop turnoff. Photos courtesy of Kris Rasey.
Two inches of powder over hard pack trail - not icy. Good for ATV training. Suitable for sleds with very small teams on 2 mile only.
The trails are open again. 3,4,5,6,8 and Junior loop are groomed. Thank you, Kris! Trails are still ATV only - please wear a yellow safety vest when training on ATVs.
The inbound 12 mile trail has been cleared by Eklutna and is not usable. The trail crew has created some detours looping back into the outbound trail. Look for pink flagging marking the turns, and be prepared for head-on passes. Due to the warm temperatures, the sled dog trails are very soft and easily damaged. Please stay off the trails until they harden up again. Thanks for your cooperation.
Eklutna has started clearing trees with Heavy Duty Equipment on their land in preparation for their planned Gravel Pit.
This has extensively transformed trails incoming from R/R tracks and is impassable. Kris put in a turn around loop to the left in the 12 mi. swamp next to Clunie Lake. Look for pink flagging, or use 14 mi. trail as lollipop and return on outbound trail. The inbound 10/8/6 and 4 are broke out and mostly frozen. Again, the inbound 12 mile section is not usable. I smoothed out the 2-mile trail and junior trails to remove the hoof marks. The trails are great for early morning dryland training.
-KR Beach Lake Dog Mushing Trails are closed to all uses for spring hardening - status of these trails will be updated as they reach an acceptable surface hardening to accommodate multi-use activity and horses. Trail use when the ground is saturated may result in damage that is expensive and labor-intensive to repair. Thank you!
Trails are hard and fast. KP groomed the 8 mile on Monday night. Sprint teams beware of culverts - icy with rocks scattered underneath. Any help shovelling snow into the culverts would be greatly appreciated by all mushers.
