The 2/3 mile loop, staging area, and outbound Junior loop were structured last night. Kp & I ground up the ice and it should be runnable with an ATV. Gee-haw and 4 mile were NOT groomed.
We also drug the alternate side including the staging area, Ed's Loop, and the upper trail to Dee Lake. The lower trail along the lake from Ed's Loop to 5 mile was not groomed as it was very rough earlier. Stay on upper trail and lollippop return. I recommend that all vehicles on the trails have chains. -Kris Rasey Editor's note: The groomers spent almost 10 hours grooming trails last night. Please let them know how much you appreciate their efforts!

2-3-kiddy and 8 from cut through are open. We have a weather roller coaster for the next 6-8 days. Please do not use the trail if the temperatures are above freezing. Thank you. Kp
Trail Report!
Kris groomed the Jr.,Gee Haw,2-8 mi. Trail is set up hard. Took multiple passes to get ruts out. Part of stage area was also done. THANK YOU Kris! Alternate side open for training! We have lost so much snow that it is good 4 wheeler training.
The 2/3 trail is sheer ice - most likely will cut pads, but you can train at your own risk. We do not recommend it until the snow flies! You can take an ATV completely around the 8 mile and down the inlet trail, cross the inlet and back to the main trails by the 16 mile connector. These trails aren't ready for sleds - but soon. The junior trail is good for juniors on sleds. Please keep ATV's off the junior trails. Thanks Kris!
Alternate side is open for training but still needs more brushing as always. Lots of water from the most recent rain.
The 2-and 4- mile trails were groomed on Saturday April 8. The 3-mile trail will be groomed Sunday. Get your mushing in before noon, while the trails are still firm! The 2-12 mile trails plus Beach Lake are groomed. Clunie plus 14-mile swamp is good for distance teams. Beach Lake cleaned up well with two passes, still some bumps from drifting snow on northside. The portion of trail crossing the inlet is not compacted. Dogs were breaking through the crust into sugar-snow below. Take it slow until further notice. The rest of the trail system is in excellent condition! The alternate side has been groomed and offers some of the best scenery in the park. The Dee Lake Loop is 5 miles, skirting Beach Lake before traversing the bluff above Knik Inlet, and finally dropping down into Dee Lake. It's not too hilly and the trails are well marked. For a longer run and even better scenery, explore the Inlet trail, easily accessible from the alternate side. Click here for a map of the Alternate Trail system.
We have received complaints about damage to our main trails from excessive use of brakes. It takes several hours for our groomers to repair this damage so that sprint teams can run safely. Please use mats, not brakes, if you need to slow down your team. Train on the alternate side to reduce wear and tear on the main trails. Keeping the main trails safe for all teams is a major effort. Please do your part to preserve our trails and respect the incredible amount of work our groomers put in - all volunteer. |
