Huge Thank You to Scott and KP who opened the north trail system tonight, the 2-3-4-6-8-10-12-B camp are all cleared and groomed, but not for sleds yet! Enjoy and remember this is all volunteer work!
Please wear your safety vest when using ATVs to train dogs on Beach Lake trails.
Reminder: Use of snowmobiles and other motor vehicles in Beach Lake Park is not permitted, unless authorized for grooming and/or race preparation and safety.
3/7: (Kris R.) Trail re routed next to glaciation on trail to Inlet. Flagging on both ends. Jr. Thru 8 mi including turns re groomed .....Plus Inlet trail and 16 connector. And Red Lantern Ridge
3/6: (Kris R.) Both edges have been cut, corners are banked and 4,6,8 turns are groomed. The alternate side is groomed and in excellent shape for distance teams !!
3/6: (KP) The 2-3-4-6-8-10 and Alternate side to beginning of inlet and back to Dee Lake are groomed. Trails past 10 mile have not been used for a while. Inlet to 16 mile was too windblown from groomer last night.
The incoming 12-mile trail has been re-routed due to Eklutna's land clearing. Our trail crew has put up gates and a U-turn here, allowing mushers to backtrack on the 12-mile trail to the 10-mile turn and incoming trails.
Matt and Tom packed the Alternate side along with the Birchwood Camp connector out to the turn around loop at Dead Moose Pond. Matt packed the 14, inbound 10 and the inlet. Kris dragged the Inlet trail and 16 connector and they are now less bumpy.
Trail crew groomed the 2-3-4-6-8 on Jan 2. It’s almost sled ready. Culverts need some more snow, we need little help from you. Big thank you to Matt, Kris, Tom and Claire -Kp
With the 6 inches of fluffy snow, We tried our best to pack the trails last night. The 2-3-kiddy- cinnamon-outbound to Clooney and inbound from cinnamon to culvert have been packed. Lots of down trees but all have been removed.
There is no longer a trail between 12 to 8 inbound (Eklutna has blocked the trail)!
Please use extreme caution as the ice under the new snow is not adhering! ATVs are recommended.
Once again heavy rains took a toll! All trails are closed until below freezing temps. It looks like we will get a little break next week. We would like to save little few flakes we currently have to see if we can save the season!!
Snow dances are working! We got 2 to 3 inches of the white stuff. Trails are definitely improving. The 2-3-kiddy and GeeHaw were packed last night. Still some open areas of water beyond that. With the cooler weather this week, hopefully we should be able to put the system all in. The snow is not deep enough for snowhooks yet, so training with ATVs is still recommended.
Well, folks, warm temps, wind and rain are making the trails slushy, and water on top of some of the icy areas can result in slick spots.
It’s sloppy, but not muddy.
Temps are cooler on the trails than at the holding area, but when it cools down below freezing we will need snow to avoid ice.
Attention all club members! The inlet bridge is out and is not secured on one side!! Please DO NOT attempt to cross. Your atv will drop to the bottom of the ravine. We will try to secure the loose side as soon as possible.
The 2-3-kiddy-4 and 8-mile trails to Cinnamon Loop and Alternate side to Birchwood Camp easement trail have been packed and ready for your enjoyment. Not enough to hook down yet, so still use your 4 wheelers.
The 2 miles is fairly smooth for a very small team with sled. No hooking option though. There are 2 large open bodies of water which makes it dangerous to connect all systems together. There are some unpacked areas beyond those. With the cooler weather they should freeze soon so we can open the whole system!🙏👍Kp
