Chugiak Dog Mushers Dryland Race Program
Chugiak Dog Mushers Association (CDMA) has been hosting dryland events every fall since 2014. These events allow early training for sled dog owners and provide a safe and fun race environment for folks with just a few dogs in their kennel! We encourage new participants to try out this up and coming sport!
What makes dryland events so special? These are non-snow events, thus mushers and non-mushers alike will have the chance to participate! Dryland racing (or training) is a sport that combines athletic prowess from both a human and their canine companion. You can run with a dog (canicross) or be pulled by your dog(s) on a bike, scooter or cart. Some classes require only one dog but in others you may have 2, 4, 8 or even more! Here at CDMA, however, we only have events that use up to 4 dogs. Come watch, volunteer, or participate in any of our events. Newcomers are welcome! All CDMA dryland events are held at the Beach Lake Sled Dog Trails in Chugiak, Alaska. Our events are held in the fall, after the temperatures drop, to allow for the safety and well-being of the dogs. |
